Pochampally Saree or Pochampalli Ikat is a well-known design made in South India.They are popular for their traditional geometric patterns in Ikat style of dyeing. Essentially, the colors are from natural sources and their blends.Pochampally Ikat uniqueness lies in the transfer of intricate design and coloring onto warp and weft threads first and then weave them together globally known as double ikat textiles. Ikat weaving involves an 18-step sequence of tying and dyeing sections of bundled yarn to a predetermined intricate color pattern prior to weaving. The fabric is cotton, silk, and sico – a mix of exquisite silk and cotton.
